Our Vision
Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery promotes a holistic
life through balance, peace and harmony for personal
growth in a global community
Dear Friends,
Over the past ten years we have had the opportunity to meet and serve many people at the Monastery. Our understanding of God’s call for us continues to unfold each year. Originally, Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery encompassed two acres of land. Many have enjoyed the quiet peace of the Monastery grounds and have participated in spiritual retreats and events throughout the liturgical year.
First and foremost, this is a Benedictine Monastery of women founded in 1998 with the permission of the Diocese of Phoenix and Rome. New vocations to the Benedictine life are being encouraged and nurtured. The Sisters and Oblates are involved in a variety of ministries at the Monastery and in the larger community. The Monastery includes a thriving Retreat Center, which is available to the public and provides space for individual or small group retreats, reflection days, workshops, prayer groups, parish groups, monastic experiences, vocation retreats, and spiritual direction. The Monastery is also active in the local community and neighborhood.
After ten years of operation, the community of Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery is blessed to have many expansion opportunities to prayerfully consider. Expanded retreat facilities to accommodate more groups seeking a place to focus on spiritual development. Meeting space is desired by teachers who would like to conduct English as a Second Language (ESL) classes; a Community Organic Vegetable and Flower Garden (which eventually will include a raised garden for seniors and disabled); Adult Addictions Education; Financial and Legal Counseling; Sweat Lodge; and a Labyrinth.
The acquisition of the five additional acres to the south of the Monastery positions the community for future growth, will maintain the quiet, peaceful environment currently surrounding the Monastery, and will result in the expansion mentioned above to all who are drawn to the Monastery.
There are many opportunities for being a partner with the Sisters of St. Benedict in this expansion. We would welcome your partnering with us in any of the areas we mentioned above. The Organic Vegetable and Flower Garden is the next priority for the community.
Our new garden is named: Benedict’s Garden ….
Partnering includes sponsoring: Vegetable and/or flower seeds, Shovels, Soaker Hoses, Rakes, Sunscreen, Hats, Canvas Shade Covers, Compost, Signage and many more items.
If you would like to partner with Benedict’s Garden, contact us through the web or give us a call at 623-848-9608.
May you and yours be blessed abundantly in all that you do in reaching out to the larger community!
Blessings,
Sister Linda Campbell, OSB
